The short answer

A useful RUO website review examines the complete presentation and the practices behind it. Check product claims, supporting content, advertising, buyer controls, and review records. This is an operational review framework—not a legal safe harbor or an exhaustive list of requirements.

01 / Define the scope before you scan

Start with an inventory of the pages and channels the business controls: product listings, category pages, editorial content, policies, FAQs, downloadable documents, promotional emails, and social accounts. Include content linked from the storefront when it contributes to the marketing message.

The reason for this wider scope is substantive. FDA’s intended-use regulation describes several forms of evidence, not just packaging language. The Summit Research Peptides warning letter discusses both the storefront and social media. A review limited to a single disclaimer can miss the message that a visitor actually receives.

02 / Evaluate claims in context

Read product names, descriptions, images, headings, and seller-controlled supporting content together. Flag statements that contradict the declared research-only purpose, including suggestions of therapeutic use. Do not reproduce those statements as promotional material in your own compliance content.

Look for substantive consistency rather than a keyword score. Removing one phrase may not change what the page communicates. Product classification and the lawfulness of distribution require a product-specific assessment; a website edit alone cannot settle those questions.

  • Check titles, descriptions, image captions, and search snippets.
  • Review FAQs and linked educational pages alongside product listings.
  • Examine seller-controlled social posts and promotional campaigns.
  • Escalate ambiguous claims and classifications for professional review.

03 / Review the research buying process

Map the path from a visitor’s first page to purchase. Document who the business serves, what information it collects to establish research eligibility, when access controls appear, and how intended-use records are retained. Check that policy descriptions match the controls actually used.

SolRUO’s published compliance policy describes counterparty verification and intended-use attestation controls. Those platform requirements are not universal statutory rules for every research transaction, and satisfying them does not itself determine whether a compound or sale is lawful. Review the actual implementation and applicable requirements with qualified advisers.

  • Confirm product, pricing, and purchase access follow your verification policy.
  • Keep eligibility and attestation records with appropriate access controls.
  • Test the real purchase path instead of relying on screenshots.
  • Record discrepancies between written policies and actual behavior.

04 / Preserve review records and follow up

Keep the review date, pages examined, findings, responsible owner, and the corrections made. Follow up after content changes, new product launches, or significant notices rather than treating onboarding as the last review. Apply privacy and retention requirements to records containing buyer information.

An automated whole-website scan can help identify material to inspect. It cannot establish the truth of every claim, assess every offline practice, or guarantee that all pages and external channels have been captured. Human review and product-specific legal advice remain necessary.

05 / Separate findings from assurances

Finish with a documented list of unresolved questions and actions—not a blanket claim that the business is compliant. Warning letters themselves note that they may not describe every violation, and FDA explains that later correspondence can affect the status of the matters identified.

Frequently asked questions

What should an RUO website compliance review cover?
Product claims, supporting content, social and email marketing, buyer verification, and dated review records — the whole presentation, not only a disclaimer.
Does SolRUO scan the whole website?
Yes. SolRUO’s AI scanner reviews the whole website rather than pasted copy, helping surface pages for human review. A scan is not a legal determination.
